Halima Selengiya Orphanage
Providing Hope Since 2017

Welcome to Halima Orphanage Center

Halima Orphanage Center has been a beacon of hope for orphans and underprivileged children since 2017. Named after Halima Selengiya, a remarkable freedom fighter and TANU founding member, our mission is to provide education, shelter, and care to vulnerable children in Tanzania.

We believe every child deserves a safe home, proper healthcare, and the opportunity to build a bright future. Through generous support from donors and volunteers, we continue to transform lives and create lasting impact in our community.

Our History

A Legacy of Compassion & Service

During a visit to Kilimanjaro, Mwalimu Julius Nyerere, the founding father of Tanzania, stayed at Halima Selengiya's residence. She opened her doors to orphaned children, setting the foundation for the orphanage.

Even after her passing, the community upheld her vision, and in 2017, under the leadership of Swalehe Zabura Mkilindi, the orphanage was officially established to continue her legacy of caring for vulnerable children.
